Has New Technology Made Us Dummer With Our Money?

So you bought an IPad or Tablet and maybe a new HUGE flat screen TV! You just spent over $50 last month buying songs, blue rays and apps on ITunes and yet all you hear on TV is that the economy is down and nobody has any money or that we are still on our way to recovery. I remember the day when it all started, or at least when it was on its way to starting, when every household started wanting a home gaming council. Though the councils of that time were far from computers, they were the start in massive spreading of media. As time went one, everyone kept buying councils, then they had to buy two or three just to have all of them, then they had to buy all of them and also buy a computer. Now they need to have councils, high definition TVs, computers, a laptop and maybe even a desktop too, and a multimedia phone. Is everybody
living like this? No, not everybody, but it’s not because of a money thing, most of the time it's because of lack of interest, a lot of people are turning to casual gaming online, so they're spending most of their time on the computer, playing Facebook games and spying, sorry checking, on their friends. It's an addiction to media, one that is not only taking up a lot of people’s possibly productive time but that is also taking a lot of their money.
Look, I know everyone has to make their money somehow and I'm not trying to make media an enemy, I myself love to go to the movies, listen to music and don't mind spending money on something that I'm going to be using and enjoying. I also fell into the media trap where I was getting more enjoyment in knowing I had the "toys" instead of enjoying playing with the "toys". When taking the "toys"  I've bought for example I know I use my computer and phone more than the rest of them. But then again, I mainly watch what I used to watch on TV on my computer and even my phone at times too, hence the movement towards multi-media. Gaming councils aren't what they used to be, they're becoming more and more like computers. But if anything, this multi-capacity that our "toys" of today have should be eliminating the need to having to buy multiple specialized pieces of hardware, lowering our spending to quench that media thirst we have all developed over the years.
But the reverse is happening with a lot of people. People are buying PlayStation 3s and end up using them to mainly play their blue rays. Using it for such a simple thing is like using a blow torch as a toaster. Sure you can toast bread, but being able to do that is just icing on the cake compared to what it was meant to be used for. But many people don't just buy the toaster or let's say a cheap blue ray player for a third of the price because toasting bread with a blow torch is freaking hot, it's sexy, it's cool! The same thing goes for having a PS3 in your living room with an HDTV to watch those beautiful, high-definition movies.
You might play a game on it here and there but what are you really using it for? If you are a hardcore gamer however, than there is nothing wrong, you're using it to its fullest potential! But when you game on that and also have a very high end computer to also play games on, and also have an XBOX 360 to play games on, and also have an IPhone or an Android phone to play games on, I think you're getting the picture here. There's nothing really wrong with having all these things, but isn't it just a tad bit overkill to have everything available? Especially when the life cycle of these things is not very long, as short as 6 months for some of the "cooler" items... IPhone anyone?
So what is the point of this rant? Well, in short, this blog is about making it big and spending money on items that we don't really use is not very productive in achieving that. A few hundred bucks here and there isn't much now, but when you have the ability to turn that extra $1000 bucks you saved by not buying all that stuff into $1500 hundred bucks within a year with proper investing it wouldn't hurt to think twice before throwing away your money on hardware that is already outdated before it even goes on sale.
Is it living a lower quality life to not have an IPad and an IPhone? Not really and this had nothing to do with buy Apple products, at least not to me, maybe you see things differently, after all IPads can do a whole lot more than IPhones can and you might use your IPad all the time, but if you're focusing on the products I'm mentioning then you are missing the point. It's not wrong to buy something for just wanting it, it's just more productive to buy things when they are going to be more useful to you. When it comes to investing, having capital money and using it wisely is more productive then spending the very thing that is going to be making you the money in the first place.
Before you take out that credit card, borrow money at an interest rate that's higher than you could ever charge legally, unless you own a bank of course, save yourself the interest rates and start having your money make money for you. No, it's not that simple but you get the gist of it. So good luck with your future purchases, and try not to go nuts on your credit cards.
